Industry NewsMRO Corp. Joins CMS esMD Gateway Pilot as a “Health Information Handler”MRO will integrate the company’s ROI Online™ and Audit Tracker Online applications with the CMS CONNECT Gateway KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. – May 11, 2011 – MRO Corp., a leading provider of disclosure management applications and services for healthcare organizations, today announced they are participating with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in an electronic submission of medical documentation (esMD) gateway pilot program. Through this partnership, MRO will work closely with CMS and the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) for Health Information Technology and other health information handlers to drive the electronic end-to-end delivery of patient records for the healthcare providers. One of seven companies nationwide participating in the first class of testing, MRO joined the effort in July 2010 and is working to build a gateway that integrates the ROI Online and Audit Tracker Online applications as well as several of the company’s health system customers directly with CMS and the organization’s CONNECT software. MRO is scheduled to participate with the ONC and other health information handlers for a planned integration with the Nationwide Health Information Network in July 2012. “The current information exchange process for many healthcare providers is neither secure nor efficient, increasing an organization’s legal risk and leading to costly audits and administrative headaches,” said Mike Rodgers, director of application development and support, MRO. “At MRO, we pride ourselves in being able to solve our customers’ disclosure management challenges and are proud to partner with CMS and the ONC in this important endeavor.” The Electronic Submission of Medical Documentation (esMD) pilot will give providers a more efficient way to deliver medical records to the requesting contractor. esMD utilizes the technology of the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN), called CONNECT-compatible gateways, to keep the documentation secure as it moves from the provider to the requesting contractor. In addition to the esMD Gateway pilot, MRO is considering becoming a Health Internet Service Provider (HISP), which will connect providers through the Direct Project (formerly known as NHIN Direct). More details will be available on this project later this month. About MRO Corp ### |
