Johns Hopkins Medicine Set to Offer ICD-10 Readiness Course at Six Network Hospitals

Plans to Train Hundreds of Medical Coders

BEDFORD, MASSACHUSETTS – May 22, 2012 – Anatomy & Physiology for Coders, Barry Libman Inc’s popular ICD-10 readiness course, is set to be offered to medical record coders at all six of Johns Hopkins Medicine’s academic and community hospitals. The Johns Hopkins Medicine network, based in Baltimore, Maryland, consists of The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, All Children’s Hospital, Howard County General Hospital, Sibley Memorial Hospital, and Suburban Hospital.

“We are thrilled that such a prestigious healthcare institution recognizes the value and quality of our Anatomy & Physiology for Coders course and chose our program to educate their medical record coders for the transition to ICD-10-CM and –PCS,” states Susan Pepple, Barry Libman Inc’s vice president for education.

In Anatomy & Physiology for Coders, students get a comprehensive and complete review of the major body systems, and also learn about common diseases and disorders, frequently prescribed drugs, and common laboratory tests. For course enhancement, students are provided with lesson notes, multimedia videos, interactive educational games, full-color anatomical drawings, quizzes, and weekly assessments. The course is online, accessible 24/7, and spans 12 weeks.

The textbook is Donald Rizzo’s Fundamentals of Anatomy & Physiology.

Anatomy & Physiology for Coders has received prior approval for 24 continuing education units (CEUs) from AHIMA and 6 CEUs from AAPC.
