MEGAS and Unicor Medical Merge to Form Unified Alpha II Company

MEGAS, a Tallahassee, Florida-based HIT and software development firm, and Unicor Medical, a Montgomery, Alabama-based software developer and publisher of the Easy Coder line of coding books, recently announced the formal merger of the companies into the unified Alpha II.

Under the previous partnership, the two companies cobranded products under the Alpha II name for coding, compliance, claims editing, and revenue analysis software solutions. The newly combined Alpha II develops the data content and rules that are used in everything from EHR, practice management, and hospital systems to the Easy Coder ICD-10 code books. Additionally, Alpha II hosts cloud-based apps and services using the Alpha II rules engine for E&M coding, claims editing and adjudication, fee schedules, medical necessity, and quality measures. Alpha II serves health care professionals, clearinghouses, and government entities—both directly and through other software developers.

Accredited by EHNAC, Alpha II has data center locations in Tallahassee and Cincinnati and maintains offices in Montgomery. Jan Powell, former CEO of MEGAS, is now serving as CEO of Alpha II. Rex Stanley, former CEO of Unicor Medical, is assuming the role of president.

"The newly launched Alpha II greatly enhances our ability to deliver high-quality solutions to health care providers as they navigate today's payment-model transition from fee-for-services to value-based care," says Powell. "Together, we can more effectively outpace rapidly changing payer rules, develop accurate data from a wide variety of sources, and offer customized connectivity options to help our reseller partners and their customers comply with the latest policies, standards, and directives."

"After so many years of partnering to support many of nation's most prominent health care software development companies, we see this merger as a perfect joining of our forces," says Stanley. "It allows us to optimally leverage all the resources, strengths, and assets of each organization as we continue to offer the quality coding, reimbursement, and business intelligence tools our clients have come to expect from us."
