March 5 - Healthcare Executives Choose Clinton as Best Presidential Candidate for Healthcare According to Beacon Partners’ Poll

Yet on Election Day, these same executives wouldn’t necessarily vote for her.

According to over 600 healthcare executives who were polled at a national healthcare conference that just ended in Orlando, Florida, Hillary Clinton would be the best presidential candidate to most positively impact the healthcare industry. Yet, when also asked which candidate they’d vote for on Election Day, Clinton ranked third among the four remaining candidates.

“We felt it was important to poll this select group of people, individuals who truly understand the issues and challenges facing the healthcare industry today, as to which presidential candidate they feel would have the greatest impact on healthcare,” says Ralph Fargnoli, president and CEO of Beacon Partners, the company who administered the “Beacon Partners 2008 Presidential Healthcare Poll” onsite at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Annual Conference and Exhibition that just ended on February 28th at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.

“We find it fascinating that while they think Hillary will have the greatest impact on healthcare as president, these same individuals wouldn’t necessarily vote for her.”

Choosing from the current presidential candidates: Hillary Clinton (D), Barack Obama (D), John McCain (R), or Mike Huckabee (R), healthcare executives attending HIMSS were asked via an electronic survey the following four questions:

1. Which candidate do you believe will be the biggest advocate for healthcare IT adoption?
2. Which candidate do you believe will have the most impact on empowering providers to deliver the best possible healthcare through the use of healthcare IT?
3. Which candidate do you believe has the best plan to improve healthcare quality and reduce healthcare costs?
4. If today were Election Day, which candidate would you vote for?
