March 18 - Online and Military Spouse Transcription Programs Reach Milestones Transcription Relief Services’ (TRS) Institute proudly announces a company milestone: one year of successful on-line, AHDI-approved training for medical transcriptionists with 100% employment reported since the program’s inception. Using the complete Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI) curriculum and joint approval through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), TRS Institute has over 1,000 students actively enrolled and nearly half of the online students are military spouses. “Military spouses receive a 10% discount in tuition and can participate in our institute from anywhere around the world, a big bonus for families that relocate every two to four years,” comments Kathy Rockel, CMT, FAAMT, vice president of TRS. Sharon Hayward, a military spouse and current TRS student discovered the program through the company’s involvement with the 2007 Department of Defense (DoD) military spouse initiative. So far, 47% of TRS Institute on-line students are military spouses and enrollment continues to climb. Beyond new recruits, TRS Institute offers continuing
education programs for certified and registered medical transcriptionists
in a supportive, caring, environment. “No matter where you are
in your career; just considering medical transcription, already taking
a course, or actively employed, our industry is starving for your skills,”
states Bob Harvey, president and chief executive officer of TRS. Source: Transcription Relief Services' Institute
