April 8- Medical Records Institute Announces New TEPR Award The Medical Records Institute has announced a new Towards the Electronic Patient Record (TEPR) award category: EMRs Best Meeting Medicolegal Requirements. Honorees will be announced at the TEPR 2008 conference's opening session on May 19 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. This new award is the first major effort to challenge electronic medical record (EMR) vendors to demonstrate that their products meet a range of EMR medicolegal requirements, including identity and authentication, document version management, signature events, data integrity, and document event auditing functions. Prior to the TEPR conference, candidates for the award (who must be conference exhibitors) will complete a questionnaire designed by a team of independent attorneys, legal experts, and EMR and HIM professionals. Judges will score the submissions to determine finalists, who must make a 15-minute demonstration to the panel of judges at the TEPR annual conference. These presentations will be open to all TEPR registrants, including members of the press. Judges will then determine first, second, and third honors to be announced at the conference. Other TEPR 2008 award categories include hot products and personal health records. For more information, visit www.tepr.com. Source: Medical Records Institute
