Diskriter Announces New Director of HIM Rehabilitation Services
Diskriter recently announced that Patricia Trela, RHIA, will fill the
newly created position of director of HIM rehabilitation services.
With more than 25 years of management and consulting experience in the
healthcare industry, Trela spearheaded the initial start-up for three
large acute care rehabilitation hospitals, including their individual
designs, development, and implementation of policies, procedures, and
processes. She was a member of the original 11-member task force that
developed the functional independence measure and the minimum data set
for the uniform data system for medical rehabilitation, an integral
part of Medicare’s prospective payment system for inpatient rehabilitation
facilities.
Since 2001, Pat has conducted more than 30 AHIMA / HIMA educational
seminars surrounding rehabilitation coding, compliance, documentation,
and reimbursement. In addition, she is the facilitator for the Coding
Physical Medicine Rehabilitation Community of Practice and affiliated
with the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, as well as the
AHIMA, and the Massachusetts Health Information Management Association.
