IOD Incorporated Emerges as First CMS ROI Service Provider to Successfully Transmit Data for esMD across all RAC Regions

Achievement Validates IOD's Commitment to Innovations that Ensure Positive Impact for its Customers

GREEN BAY, Wis., May 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — IOD Incorporated, a provider of integrated HIM solutions to hospitals, IDNs, healthcare systems and clinics, today announced it has successfully transmitted data to all four Recovery Audit Contractors (RACs) in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) program for the Electronic Submission of Medical Documentation (esMD).

By connecting its PRISM online tracking/reporting system with the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN) project in January 2012, IOD became a CMS certified esMD Health Information Handler (HIH). The certification enables IOD to electronically respond to RAC requests via NHIN on behalf of their clients and will replace the current paper or CD/DVD submission process. IOD worked closely with Region C Medicare Recovery auditor, Connolly Inc, as it became the final Medicare RAC to be approved for submission via the NHIN with that work culminating in a successful transmission to Connolly earlier this month.

"Being the first ROI provider to successfully submit audit request documentation for all RAC Regions electronically through the CMS backbone, we are excited to continue our work with CMS to find opportunities to further leverage the power of the NHIN," said IOD CTO William J. Sweeney.

"The combination of PRISM and the NHIN platform provides immediate benefits for our customers by increasing efficiencies and reducing costs as they move away from paper-based processes," he added.

"This achievement is clearly a significant benchmark, and is an example of IOD's pledge to always remain current with the evolving healthcare technology standards on behalf of our customers," said IOD CEO Mike Wickman.

"Health information management is rapidly evolving in the EHR revolution and IOD is committed to making the investments that ensure positive impact to our customers' operations and bottom lines. That's what matters most to our customers and to IOD."
