M*Modal Appoints Chief Medical Information Officer

M*Modal, a provider of clinical documentation services and speech understanding technology solutions, recently announced that Jonathan A. Handler, MD, FACEP, has joined M*Modal as chief medical information officer, a new position at the company. In this role, Handler will focus his expertise and unique viewpoint as a physician on the design and implementation of M*Modal’s technology solutions, helping to further drive excellence and innovation across the company’s clinical and medical informatics products and services.

Handler is a board-certified emergency physician with 20 years of experience in medical informatics. In addition to more than a decade of clinical practice at academic medical centers, he previously served as the Health Solutions Group’s chief deployment architect at Microsoft, director of Azyxxi development at the National Institute for Medical Informatics, and director of emergency medicine research and informatics at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, where he remains an adjunct associate professor of emergency medicine.

Train For EHR Announces New Alliances With CODESMART

New alliances recently were launched for Train For EHR and include three new schools: CODESMART UNIVERSITY, T.H.E. Technologies, and Bergen Blended Academy.

CODESMART UNIVERSITY, a provider of ICD-10 training, is adding EMR/EHR training within the online programs for medical coders. CODESMART's online program prepares individuals seeking a new career path as medical coders.

T.H.E. Technologies, LLC, is a computer consulting company and IT training center in Toms River, New Jersey. In addition to targeting the One-Stop customers through the Department of Labor, T.H.E. enjoys a successful training track with physicians, hospitals, and allied health workers offering national certification training. T.H.E. is dedicated to providing hands-on, instructor-led computer training to individuals, small companies, and corporations.

Bergen Blended Academy in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, is offering Train For EHR’s EHR course in its medical office administration programs: online, classroom, and blended. The academy uses Train For EHR’s Private Branded LMS (Training Portal), saving considerable time and expense. The academy has been working with retraining medical office staff and enjoys a successful partnership with the New Jersey Department of Labor One-Stop offices.

HIT Pioneer Partners With Health Care DataWorks

Health Care DataWorks, Inc has announced that Ivo Nelson, a 28-year veteran of the healthcare industry and a well-recognized leader in HIT, has become a financial partner in the healthcare analytics company.

Nelson has served as a member of the Health Care DataWorks board of directors since 2008. He is CEO of the startup investment advisory firm WealthLink and cofounder of Encore Health Resources, which provides IT consulting services to assist healthcare organizations with a wide range of strategy, advisory, implementation, process redesign, and optimization activities. Nelson also led IBM’s Global Healthcare Provider business and was the CEO of Healthlink, which he built into the largest privately held, provider-focused healthcare information systems consulting firm until acquired by IBM in 2005.
