H.I.M. ON CALL Announces New President

H.I.M. ON CALL—an outsourced services company for HIM, coding, data quality audits, CDI, and revenue cycle—proudly announces the promotion of Joseph J. Gurrieri, RHIA, CHP, to president. Gurrieri has served as H.I.M. ON CALL's vice president of HIM services since 2006 when he joined the firm from the New Jersey Hospital Association. The announcement was made by Manny Peña, RHIA, chairman and CEO of H.I.M. ON CALL.

As H.I.M. ON CALL's new president, Gurrieri will oversee the expansion of HIM consultative services, including coding and data quality, coding assessments, coding education, H.I.M. department staffing and operational assessments, and technical project assistance.

"Our main focus is to grow organically within our existing client base by offering new services and solutions," Gurrieri says. "We will also strive to reestablish relationships with former customers and increase our new client base in the Northeast—as well as other select regions of the United States." The privately held company currently serves 100+ hospitals and health systems, employs over 300 clinical coders across three offices, and reports 41% growth in 2015.

Gurrieri's plan to improve client retention and satisfaction is centered on the following:

In late 2014, the company increased its existing client service offerings with six new coding, technology, and HIM experts. In 2015, the firm through its sister company. AVIANCE Suite, Inc launched a successful Web-based coder testing and assessment software, Central Learning. The system automatically audits coders in ICD-10 using real clinical cases and the industry's only vetted, standardized answer keys. As a result, H.I.M. ON CALL will soon be the first outsourced coding company in the nation to set ICD-10 coding quality and productivity benchmarks.

Peña will continue to spearhead the company's technology growth through its parent company, Pena4, Inc.
