A JAMA Network Open study on preventing health care employees from inappropriately accessing patient health information found that e-mail warnings were this percentage effective for reducing repeated offenses. Between 20 and 70 days after the initial unauthorized access, repeated offenses occurred in only 4 out of 219 employees who received e-mail warnings but in 90 out of 225 employees who didn't receive e-mail warnings.
