Arcadia Solutions Announces Sean Carroll as CEO

Arcadia Solutions, LLC, a provider of data-driven HIT solutions, recently announced the appointment of Sean Carroll as CEO and as a member of Arcadia’s board of managers, effective  April 1, 2013. Carroll joins Arcadia from Nuance Communications, a multinational computer software technology corporation, where he served as senior vice president of HIM.

As a member of the Nuance Healthcare executive team, Carroll managed an approximately $500 million line of business focused on providing technology and services to large healthcare provider organizations, middle market healthcare providers and the ambulatory healthcare sector. Specifically, Carroll worked with customers to integrate clinical documentation solutions into their EHR strategy.

Carroll was previously CEO of Webmedx, Inc, a portfolio company of Ferrer Freeman & Company, from July 2004 until it was purchased by Nuance Communications in 2011. Under Carroll’s leadership, Webmedx grew revenue by over 300% and was voted the top provider of medical documentation services for 2009 and 2010 by KLAS Enterprises, an HIT benchmarking organization.

“Sean’s extensive experience in healthcare technology makes him ideally suited to lead Arcadia,” said David Freeman, chairman of the board of managers for Arcadia and a cofounding member of Ferrer Freeman & Company, Arcadia’s majority owner. “Having worked with Sean for over seven years at Webmedx, we are confident that he will be immensely valuable to Arcadia as we embark on the next chapter of growth as a company.”

“I am thrilled to be joining Arcadia at such an exciting time in the company’s growth,” remarked Carroll. “Arcadia has established a reputation for being a market leader in solving problems for customers and using data analytics and health information technology to improve ambulatory performance. I look forward to being a part of Arcadia’s continued evolution of services, intellectual property and geographic expansion.”

Carroll’s experience in the clinical documentation marketplace has resulted in several industry acknowledgements for his companies, including the KLAS awards for Webmedx and three national awards for industry employer of the year, a Smithsonian Computer World Award for technology innovation in healthcare, and several successive years as the elected president of the medical transcription’s international trade association. Carroll currently serves on the board of directors for the AHIMA Foundation, a foundation in health information education, leadership, policy, and research.
